- “Unto thine own self be true.” Do you ever feel like you’re being pulled in a million different directions all at once? It can be overwhelming, can’t it?
- Do you find it hard to say no to others? It’s important to remember that we must also say yes to ourselves. Often, we are conditioned to prioritize pleasing others over ourselves. However, it’s crucial to be true to ourselves. In my personal and professional life, I have always put myself last, but my recent health issues have made me realize the importance of following my own advice. Where in your life do you need to be true to yourself?
- It’s important to be clear and honest in your communication. If you say yes to something, make sure you mean it. Equally, if you need to say no, don’t be afraid to do so. It’s natural to find it hard to say no sometimes, but it’s important to stick to your decision. If you struggle with this, take some time to think about why that might be. Saying yes when you really mean no can leave you feeling disconnected from your true values. To avoid this, set clear boundaries and communicate them clearly to others. If you need support with this, consider speaking to a professional who can help.
- It is important to take time to reflect on the promises we make to ourselves, whether it is at the beginning of a new year or when we create a new plan for our lives. For example, we may commit to following a healthy diet or engaging in regular exercise. It is recommended to choose one of these promises and follow through on it, giving it our best effort. Once we have established this commitment, we can move on to the next one. Failing to keep our promises can leave us feeling disorganized and may cause an inner misalignment. Even if we sense that something isn’t right within us, we tend to ignore it and distract ourselves with other things. It is crucial to take a moment and assess where we may have broken promises to ourselves and create a plan of action to regain what is necessary for our overall well-being, whether it is related to our mental, physical, or spiritual health.
- “You can trust your intuition, so take a walk in your favourite spot and listen. It may take a week for you to reconnect with your heart. The best place to quiet your mind and listen to your heart is in nature.”
- “Making changes to your daily routine can be as rejuvenating as taking a vacation. But how does this relate to Integrity? Altering your routine can help you reflect on your life and start valuing yourself, which is a critical aspect of Integrity. It takes bravery to make significant changes, but sometimes, even small adjustments can bring a fresh and exciting perspective. For instance, you could try taking a different route to work or exploring a new direction while walking.”
- “Love your neighbour as you love yourself” is a crucial principle to live by. However, loving oneself can be quite challenging. In today’s world, some people might associate self-love with selfishness, but true self-love is all about treating yourself with kindness and respect, just as you would treat others. Kindness is a timeless virtue that includes being friendly, generous, and considerate. This is what we call integrity, and it can bring a deep sense of peace. Even if someone doesn’t respond to your kindness, it’s not your problem if you’ve maintained your stability and acted with integrity.
- Remember to respect your unique self. No one else is like you, and you have a specific life and role to fulfill on earth. Always respect yourself, and don’t allow anyone to disrespect you. If you find yourself surrounded by people who constantly put you down, it’s time to re-evaluate your circle, cut out the negative energy, and walk away. Although it may be lonely at first, you’ll soon realize that new friends will show up, and they’ll come with respect. If you still experience disrespect, it’s time to consider where you need to align with your internal integrity. Doing this will often help solve the problem. At times, you may need help to move forward and overcome the obstacles holding you back. Although it might be hard work, it’s worth it to have your values and ideas appreciated.
- “I love to bring my journal along with me when I travel. I take pleasure in writing with pen and paper as much as I do using a computer. I usually make lists and tick off tasks with coloured pens. My small journal is always with me, whether I’m on a plane or at the beach. It’s the place where I find inspiration and have those unforgettable light bulb moments. These moments nourish my soul and keep me true to myself. I call them my golden moments of renewal.”
- It’s important to practice self-love and appreciation for your positive qualities, such as kindness. It’s also crucial to recognize the deep, inner part of yourself that desires to be acknowledged and heard. Ignoring this part could lead to other ways of seeking attention. Many people don’t realize their creative potential, which is yearning to be expressed. This part of you is calling for change and requires action. Remember the quote my friend once shared with me: “If you fix the fix I sent to fix you, I will send another fix.”
- I have three circles of friends in my life. The first circle includes my closest friends, whom I have known for many years. Although we don’t see each other regularly, we can pick up where we left off whenever we catch up. I cherish this type of friendship because, even after many years, we are still there for one another.
- The second circle is made up of friends whom I enjoy spending time with, but I don’t consider them to be my trusted friends.
- Finally, the third circle includes anyone from the first or second group who has disrespected or devalued my friendship. These people are still in my life but have been relegated to this third group. If they are family members, I may still see them at family reunions, but I have consciously decided to distance myself from them. This decision is a sign of self-respect. If I have to interact with them, I remain true to my convictions.
- Above all, I stay faithful to the Lord and myself. Lily C.
